By Air: The closest airport is Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, just about an hour’s drive from Playa Grande. This airport offers direct international flights from the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
By Car: Renting a car is the easiest way to explore the Guanacaste region. Playa Grande is about 70 km (43 miles) from Liberia Airport, with well-marked highways leading to the coast. A 4x4 is helpful if you plan to explore beyond the main roads.
By Shuttle or Taxi: Private shuttles and taxis are available from Liberia Airport to Playa Grande. Shared shuttle services also run daily, connecting major destinations like Tamarindo and Flamingo.
From Tamarindo: Playa Grande is only 10 minutes north of Tamarindo, separated by the estuary. You can take a short water taxi across, or drive around the estuary (~25 minutes by car).
